This is called a three-way switch configuration, and it uses specific wiring different from a standard single-switch setup. A three-way circuit uses two special three-way switches and, between them, a set of traveler wires that let either switch complete or interrupt the circuit at any time. Regardless of which switch was last used, flipping either one changes the light\’s state.
