The single most common 240V circuit mistake we see in the GTA is a homeowner or handyman assuming a 240V circuit is just “two 120V circuits stuck together.” It is not. The two hots must come from opposite bus phases in the panel or the circuit will supply zero volts, and even when the phases are right, the neutral and ground requirements depend on the appliance. Any 240V install — for a dryer, range, EV, or hot tub — is a job for an ECRA/ESA-licensed contractor working under a proper notification. It is the fastest way to get it right the first time and avoid an expensive rework.
